Every Backcountry Recreation Panorama Barrel Sauna comes with a water bucket & ladle, sauna rocks, and backrests. Our saunas will heat up in under one hour, allowing you to relax at a temperature of up to 195 F. In addition, the glass window creates a visually appealing and relaxing atmosphere. These features give our saunas a finish you won't find elsewhere. We do everything possible to create that authentic Scandinavian sauna experience for you.

Traditional Scandinavian Design

The Scandinavian barrel sauna has a classic beauty in its elegant simplicity. Our barrel saunas are constructed with tongue and groove lumber staves held tightly together by stainless steel bands and fasteners. This interlocking system allows the lumber staves to expand and contract naturally and form a tight seal. In addition, the sauna unit sits on support cradles (included) that keep the sauna's underside above the ground. Our Scandinavian barrel sauna is lovely, and its design is incredibly energy efficient, distributing heat evenly throughout the interior.

The Panorama Sauna is our most deluxe sauna with a full glass back wall, allowing you to enjoy natural light and take in beautiful views, all from the cozy inside of your sauna. The natural light makes this special sauna feel more spacious, and the ability to enjoy a wonderful view gives you the ultimate sauna experience.

Thermal-wood Construction

Thermowood is created by heat-treating Scandinavian softwood to temperatures ranging from 180 – 230° in special chamber kilns for up to 96 hours. Steam is a protective gas that helps prevent the wood from splitting and becoming damaged during treatment.

Thermowood's Characteristics & Qualities

This process causes chemical and structural changes within the timber, altering some of its characteristics and qualities. Some of the characteristics and qualities making Thermowood popular and in high demand include:

Dimensionally Stable – The intensive heat to which the wood is exposed during its production dries deep into the core, causing all moisture and resin to be removed from the timber. Thermowood, therefore, doesn't react to changes in humidity as drastically as untreated wood (the risk of swelling, cracking, and shrinkage is decreased), allowing it to retain its shape far better. The wood also doesn't secrete sap or resin even in high temperatures.

Environmentally Friendly – The softwood used to produce Thermowood originates from well-managed, PEFC-certified forests. Since no chemicals or foreign substances are involved during its production, Thermowood is an environmentally friendly material produced by only natural methods.

Resistance to Rot and Fungi – Due to the heating process breaking down hemicellulose, the wood doesn't contain the appropriate nutrients to allow rot and fungi to grow and develop.

Increased Longevity – When wood is treated with heat, its average life span is prolonged meaning your sauna will last a lifetime!

Improved Insulation – Heat-treated wood is much more porous than untreated wood, vastly improving its insulating properties.

Sit on wooden benches and enjoy the company of friends and loved ones in a sauna room filled with soft lighting and enjoy the aromatic scents of the thermowood. Our saunas give bathers a truly authentic and relaxing Scandinavian sauna experience. A towel hook (included) is a great place to keep towels for drying off and cooling down between rounds.

Easy Self Assembly

Putting together our sauna kits is easy! All our saunas are designed with the DIY customer in mind. All the pieces are pre-cut and grooved, so no sawing or cutting is required.

Anyone with novice woodworking skills could build one in approximately 4 hours. All the assembler will need is a spirit level, a Phillips head screwdriver drill, an adjustable wrench, a hammer, and a rubber mallet.
